Preparation Tips

Build Paddle Power: Kayaking hits your shoulders, back, and core. Train 2–3 months out with rowing, push-ups, or swimming. Hit a local lake to practice strokes if you can—gym’s good, but water’s better.

Gear Up: Bring quick-dry clothes (rashie, board shorts), water shoes (no flip-flops), and a waterproof jacket. We provide kayaks and life jackets, but a 10–20L dry bag, sunglasses with strap, and SPF 50+ are on you. A wide-brim hat or buff’s clutch for sun. Sleeping bag (rated to 10°C) for camping trips.

Water Skills: Don’t need to be a pro swimmer, but be comfy in water. Practice treading water or floating—helps if you capsize. Guides teach wet exits (how to bail safely), so no stress if you’re new.

Eco-Conscious Vibes: Waterways are fragile. Use reef-safe sunscreen, pack out all trash, and don’t touch marine life. Stick to launch sites to avoid trampling plants or disturbing critters.

Safety Prep: Learn basic paddle signals—“stop,” “go,” “raft up”—and practice teamwork. Check weather (wind’s a killer) and know your limits. Pack a small first-aid kit with bandages, anti-itch cream, and painkillers.

Cultural Respect: In places like Brazil, respect river communities—ask before photographing, don’t trespass, and learn “obrigado” (thanks). In Norway, chat with locals but respect their space.

Safety Tips for Kayaking

Stay With the Group: Currents or winds can pull you off course. Paddle in formation and keep sight of guides. If you lag, signal with a raised paddle.

Master the Basics: Practice low bracing (to avoid flipping) and wet exits in calm water. Guides run drills, but confidence in a capsize keeps you calm.

Weather Watch: Storms or high winds can flip plans fast. Avoid paddling if lightning’s near—get to shore, crouch low. Guides read conditions, so trust their call.

Know the Water: Tides, currents, or rapids can shift quick. Learn to spot eddies or rips—guides point them out. Don’t fight a current; angle across it.

Wildlife Smarts: Dolphins or seals are cool, but keep 50m distance. Don’t paddle over coral—it’s alive and fragile. Store food tight to avoid curious critters.

Kayaking’s a wild mix of adrenaline and peace, with views and wildlife that’ll blow your mind. Our trips give you the skills, the crew, and the freedom to paddle like you were born on the water. Let’s make some waves!
